Forkest is a small project and collects as little as it can. This page says exactly what it stores, what it makes public and how to get rid of it.
What Forkest stores
- Your GitHub username and avatar URL, from signing in with GitHub.
- One row per day with how many contributions GitHub reports for you, plus the totals derived from them: level, XP and streaks.
- Your settings: hemisphere, whether you appear on the leaderboard, your signature plant and your project link.
- Whether you have paid, which offer, and the identifiers of that order in Polar.
- When you last opened your garden or your widget was rendered, so the daily sync can skip dormant accounts.
- When your Pro trial started and ended, whether you bought a plan during it, and the first time you used each Pro extra, to understand which ones people find worth paying for.
What Forkest does not store
Not your code, not your repositories, not your private activity, and not your card details. The GitHub permission Forkest asks for is read:user, which does not give access to code. Payments go through Polar, which handles the card and the invoice; Forkest never sees those numbers.
What is public
Your README widget and the leaderboard show your GitHub username, your avatar, your level, your streaks and your daily contribution counts — the same numbers GitHub already shows on your public profile — plus the project link you choose to publish. You can hide yourself from the leaderboard at any time from your garden; the widget only exists at an address that contains your username.
Who else is involved
- GitHub, for signing in and for the contribution data.
- Supabase, which hosts the database and the login.
- Vercel, which hosts the site and provides anonymous traffic analytics with no cookies.
- Polar, which processes payments as merchant of record.
Deleting your data
Write to tomasmorales.b8@gmail.com from an address you can prove is yours, or from your GitHub account, and we delete your profile, your contribution history and your stats. Records of a payment stay in Polar for as long as tax law requires.
