What Forkest is

Forkest is a website that reads your public GitHub contribution calendar and draws it as a pixel-art garden, plus an image you can embed in your GitHub profile README. You get access to software; you are not buying a physical product, a donation or a sponsorship.

Your account

You sign in with GitHub. You are responsible for your GitHub account and for the content you add to Forkest, which today means the project link you can publish next to your name on the leaderboard. You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live.

Free plan and Pro trial

Forkest is free. The free plan keeps your garden, your level, your streak, the daily sync, the weekly README widget and your place on the leaderboard, and does not expire. Pro is optional and adds the extras listed on the pricing page.

When you first sign in you get 14 days of Pro for free, without giving any payment details. When they end your account moves to the free plan on its own: nothing is charged and nothing is deleted. Each account gets one trial. Accounts that existed before paid plans were introduced keep full access at no cost.

Payments

Payments are handled by Polar Software Inc., which acts as the merchant of record: Polar sells the access to you, charges any tax that applies where you live and sends your receipt. Your card details never reach Forkest.

Pro is either a monthly or yearly subscription or the Founding Gardener offer. A subscription renews at the end of each period until you cancel it from your receipt, at any time; you keep Pro until the period you paid for ends, and your garden stays on the free plan after that. Founding Gardener is a single payment, limited to the first 100 buyers, that gives Pro for life plus a badge: there is nothing to cancel and nothing is charged again. “For life” means for as long as Forkest runs as a service; see “If Forkest shuts down” below. Anyone who bought lifetime access before keeps it.

Refunds

Write to tomasmorales.b8@gmail.com within 14 days of your payment and we will refund it in full through Polar, no questions asked. After 14 days, ask anyway and we will look at it.

Acceptable use

Do not use Forkest to publish links to malware, phishing, spam or illegal content, to impersonate someone else, or to attack the service. We can remove a project link, hide an account from the leaderboard or close an account that does any of this, and we will refund a paid account we close for reasons other than abuse.

The numbers Forkest shows come from GitHub and can be gamed with backdated commits. The leaderboard is a game, not a measure of anyone's work.

Availability

Forkest is provided as is, without warranty. It depends on GitHub, Supabase, Vercel and Polar, and it can be slow, wrong or unavailable. We do not promise that the daily sync always runs or that the numbers are exact. To the extent the law allows, our total liability is limited to what you paid.

If Forkest shuts down

If the service ever closes, we will say so on this site at least 30 days in advance and refund anyone who paid in the previous 12 months.

Changes

We can change these terms; the date at the top says when they last changed. If a change matters to people who already paid, we will announce it on the site before it takes effect.
